About the Photographer

Skylar Kowalsky

I was born and raised in Connecticut, where I still currently reside. I have a love/hate relationship with CT at times, but I guess a lot of people say that about where they live. I recently graduated from Hallmark Institute of Photography (June 2011) in Turners Falls, Massachusetts. I absolutely LOVED everything about the school, and the area I was living. Going to Hallmark was the best decision I have ever made in my life, and it has really made me the professional photographer that I am today. I learned so much, from camera techniques, lighting patterns, and just simply know how and where to find and use lighting (natural and studio. I have always had a love for photography, I started playing with my first digital camera when I was about thirteen years old. My first camera was a Kodak Easy Share… and that thing was my life. It went everything and did everything with me. I started out taking photographs of flowers, my pets, and of course.. butterflies. I have a huge love for animals, and the gorgeous butterflies, and dragonflies. A few years later, I finally decided to expand my horizons and started asking family and friends to model for me to get some practice… and then Hallmark was my next step to making my dream come true! I am currently in the process of looking for studio space/store front space.. and getting all my business stuff finished.. so excited to share such an incredible thing with so many people! Please read and follow my posts, and follow me on Facebook as well!
